1 May, 2022 / 0 Comments The Winner of Large Order Including Battery Machines and Automation Solutions for New Mine in Canada is Epiroc

In order to use in a new underground gold mine currently under construction, Epiroc, which is a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, has won a large order for equipment, containing battery-electric machines and automation solutions, from the Canadian Malartic Partnership.

As one of Canada’s largest gold mines, the Odyssey Mine in Malartic, Québec, Canada is benefiting from Epiroc’s Boltec M10 Battery rock reinforcement rig that is part of the order by the Canadian Malartic Partnership.

A variety of drill rigs, loaders, and mine trucks are the ordered equipment and some of the machines are going to be battery powered. While the automation features comprise Minetruck Automation and Scooptram Automation, which are part of Epiroc’s 6th Sense portfolio of digital solutions, mixing these solutions with Epiroc’s Traffic Management System will optimize material handling within the mine, bringing benefits such as virtually eliminating the risk of collisions.

The equipment order also includes education and training using sophisticated simulators. This is the second equipment order from the Canadian Malartic Partnership. Epiroc also won a large order for drill rigs, loaders, and mine trucks in the third quarter of 2021. Epiroc will also provide service and spare parts, as well as expertise in electrification solutions.

Locating almost 3 km east of the entrance to the Town of Malartic, just west of the Canadian Malartic Partnership’s open-pit gold mine, the Odyssey Mine is still in operation, and the powerful Pit Viper surface drill rigs have been provided for it by Epiroc in previous years.
